Renewing Your License

How to Renew Your Idaho Real Estate License

Idaho real estate license renewal is required every two years. The Idaho Real Estate Commission requires taking 18 hours of Continuing Education in order to renew your license. A license may be renewed up to 90 days prior to the expiration date. Make sure you have completed all your continuing education prior to completing an early renewal.

If this is your first license renewal period, you must take the following Continuing Education courses:

  • 2 Commission Core courses from different years (ex: C2014, C2015)
  • An 8-hour Post License Fundamentals course
  • 1 of the following 4-hour electives:
    • Post License Pricing, Marketing, and Advertising (POST002)
    • Post License Professionalism, Negotiations, and Closings (POST003)
    • Post License Introduction to Commercial Real Estate (POST004)

If you’ve already renewed your license on active at least once before, your requirements are the following:

  • 2 Commission Core courses from different years (ex: C2014, C2015)
  • 12 Elective CE credits – courses of your choosing

Your education must be completed prior to your renewal date, which is the last day of your birthday month. You can check when your license expires or what education you have completed on the Idaho Real Estate Commission’s website at irec.idaho.gov.
